Mr Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board, visited one of the test centres of Delhi / NCR examination held in 439 examination centres of 166 cities across the country, 47.55 lakh candidates appeared in the next phase against 60,000 posts of assistant local pilots and technicians. 1.9 crore candidates will be present for 63,000 posts.
An unprecedented 74% of the candidates reported on the first day of the examination, the highest possible level of security measures taken during the recruitment process was included in the examination process in IT-enabled facilities.Ministry of Railways of India is now known as the world’s largest job provider.
On the first day of the examination, Railway Board President Mr Ashwani Lohani today visited one of the testing centres of Delhi / NCR to look after the arrangements for examination and smooth operation. He also visited a Command Center from where all the 439 examination centres are being examined in 166 cities across the country.
Presently two recruitment notices- for one Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP), for the second and second level, for the post-group D posts, the process is going to fill up about 1.2 lakh vacancies.
Computer Based Test (CBT) for ALP and Technician Recruitment Posts has started successfully today (9 August 2018). This examination is being organized in 166 cities across 439 examination centres across India. The cities are spread from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir to all the North Eastern States and Port Blair, along with many other cities of the country.
The examinations will be held in 3 shifts per day for 10 days, extending up to 31st August 2018. Question papers are being provided to candidates in 15 languages.
A total of 4.83 lakh candidates, ie approx. 1.60 lakh per shift was determined 9th August 2018. A tremendous response has occurred and today 74% of candidates have participated in unprecedented numbers of exams. A total of 3,59,605 candidates have participated in 9th August 2018examination. This presence is a record for all the RRB-exams held so far.
Every effort has been made to provide the surrounding centres to the candidates during the recruitment process. About 83% of the candidates have been provided centres within 500 km. Special care has been taken to ensure that almost all women candidates and disabled persons are provided centres within 200 km.
Even for those candidates who could not be accommodated within 500 km, Indian Railways have made extra efforts and at places like Secunderabad, Bhopal, Indore, NCR etc. Devoria, Chhapra, Patna, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Ara Examinations like special trains have been arranged from places. So far 10 pairs of special trains have been assembled and more trains will be planned in the future.
RRBs follow the direct and immediate communication practice with the candidates through regular updates on websites and personalized SMS and email. Candidates are only appealed in the context of these official communications and cannot be misled by the rumours and rumours circulated on social media, many of whom aim to mislead the actual candidates and adversely affect their preparation for the exam.
