Crisis in Maldives
The country of beautiful islands near the the Indian Ocean, Maldives is going through a period of struggle for political power these days; when President Mohammad Yameen imposed an emergency for 15 days in the country, people started protesting against him.
In protest also being told that President Yameen is a toy of the Chinese government, the international community has also expressed concern about the political crisis in the Maldives.
All countries in South Asia are concerned about the stalemate of the Maldives’s ego-tactical situation, the small country known for its tourism has come to the centre of the discussion of many nations of the world for its political upheaval.
a dark chapter of emergency was added on February 5 in the history of the Maldives, Supreme Court of Maldives released two opposition leaders with the former President Mohammed Nasheed and said laws dealing with leaders are unconstitutional.
The supreme court also provided relief to 12 MPs who had fired from President Abdullah Yameen party, but President Abdullah Yameen refused to obey the court order.
After this Parliament dissolved on 3 February and the army occupied Parliament, and the Emergency was announced for 15 days on February 5. Apart from this, besides two judges, the former President also arrested.
The government is suppressing the voices that raise the questions, the opposition alleged, and people demonstrated on the streets against President Abdullah Yemen after the announcement of the Emergency.
The first democratically elected President of the Maldives, Mohammed Nasheed, described the current President Yameen as a dictatorship and urged to help India to resolve this crisis soon.

Abdul Qayyum ruled for 30 years absence of opposition, but in 2008, when a new constitution was created in the country, it was hoped that democracy would move forward in the Maldives but even after nearly ten years have passed, democracy has not found its roots here.
